Mike was brought up in church from his earliest childhood. However, his true salvation came in 1994 while he and his wife were living in Oklahoma. He truly let go and let Jesus be Lord over his life. He admits it’s a constant struggle to let Him lead and direct, but he continues to work on it.

Mike graduated from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma with a BS in Accounting/Business in May 1984. He has been a Certified Public Accountant by the Oklahoma Accountancy since January 21, 1994. Mike has also been certified by NC Public Finance Officers Association as a Certified Local Government Finance Officer since January 2003. He has worked in the Accounting/ Business fields since 1992 as a Finance Officer for Granville County from 1998-2004 and is currently Finance Officer for the Granville County School District and has been since 2004. Mike is also involved in the community as Treasurer for the Granville County United Way and President for the Granville County Arts Council. In his rare spare time he loves to read all types of books.

Mike serves the Lord in many capacities at Promised Land and does so with a sweet spirit and love for the Lord. He is the Long Range Planning Team leader and a member of the Finance, Core Leadership, and Greeter teams. He also assists in the Men’s Ministry. Mike and his lovely wife Barbara teach the Couples Sunday School class. They don’t, however, limit their servants’ hearts to working with adults; they also teach in the AWANA ministry. Barbara also serves in the Nursery on Sunday during Worship and Wednesday evenings during weekly prayer meetings.

Mike was married to Barbara in November of 1991. They have been blessed with two sons, Brandon and Ryan. Mike and Barbara have been members of Promised Land for five years. Barbara attended one of Promised Land’s outreach functions, Harvest Fest and was excited to hear the contemporary worship. Their family attended church services the next Sunday and fell in love with the Worship style and the people. Mike and Barbara feel very fortunate to have had both of their children come to a saving knowledge of Christ while they have been attending Promised Land. They continue to pray for other extended family members to come to know the Love of Christ as well.
